The Monte da Igreja Project is directed by Dr Cornelius Holtorf and has been running since 2000. The project has received funding and invaluable support from: McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research Cambridge, Gerda Henkel-Stiftung, Câmara Municipal Évora, Professor Martin Höck (University of Beira Interior, Covilhã), Dr Philine Kalb (Römisch-Germanische Kommission Frankfurt), Panagiotis 'Takis' Sarantopoulos (Câmara Municipal Évora). The necessary permissions were kindly granted by Sr. Isidoro Maria d'Oliveira (landowner) and Dr Monge Soares (for IPA).
